Our story
"WE BELIEVE IN MAKING YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH THE WILD"
Connecting People With the Planet’s Most Iconic Wildlife
To design and lead wildlife experiences that bring the best out of that area.
We do this by keeping our groups small, our guiding personal, and our standards uncompromising. We work only in zones and seasons where sightings are meaningful. We partner only with properties that respect the ecosystem they sit beside and follow sustainability measure. We guide every expedition ourselves, people who have spent years building genuine relationships with these forests.
Every rupee you spend with Maati Safari goes toward an experience that the jungle itself would approve of — quiet, unhurried, honest, real and the one which benefits the surrounding landscape. making ‘YOU’ a real change maker.
We measure our success simply: did you leave the jungle different from how you entered it?
If yes — we did our job!
Our Vision for a Wilder Tomorrow
A India where the people who love the jungle most are the ones protecting it.
We believe that a truly experienced wilderness felt deeply, understood slowly, witnessed with full attention creates conservationists. Not from obligation, but from love.
Our vision is to be the bridge between India’s extraordinary wildlife and the people who are ready to truly receive it. To build a community of travelers who leave our expeditions not just with photographs, but with a permanent, irreversible connection to the wild.
We want Maati Safari to be the name serious wildlife lovers trust completely — for access, for authenticity, for the guarantee that their time in the jungle will be spent the right way.
Our Story
There is a moment in the jungle that changes you.
Not the tiger sighting — though that will come. It is the moment before. The gypsy engine off. The jungle exhaling. A sambar alarm call somewhere in the sal trees. Your naturalist’s senses raised, still, reading something in the air you cannot yet read yourself.
That moment is why Maati Safari exists.
We are not a tour company. We do not move people from hotel to gate to hotel and call it a wildlife experience. We are a small, obsessive operation built around one belief that the Indian jungle deserves to be experienced properly.
Maati means soil. Earth. The ground beneath everything. It is where we come from and where we always return. We chose this name because real wildlife experiences are grounded — in patience, in silence, in the honest rhythms of the forest. Not in luxury for its own sake. Not in checklists and guaranteed sightings. In the raw, unhurried act of being present in one of the last wild places on earth.
Our founder has spent years inside these reserves — Bandhavgarh, Ranthambore, Kanha, Corbett — not as a visitor but as a student. Learning zones, reading pugmarks, understanding which waterhole a tigress prefers in April, which alarm call means she is moving. That knowledge is what you carry with you on a Maati expedition. Not a pamphlet. Not a scripted commentary. A living, breathing read of the jungle from someone who genuinely cannot imagine being anywhere else.
Every expedition we design is small by intention. Every safari is personally guided. Every itinerary is built around what the forest is doing not what the brochure says it should do.
We started because we kept going on wildlife trips that left us unsatisfied. Beautiful places, competent operators, forgettable experiences. Too rushed. Too scripted. Too many gypsies in the same zone at the same time. We wanted something different and when we couldn’t find it, we built it.
This is Maati Safari. Come properly, and let the magic unfold.
